The U.K. series began on the BBC in November 2020 and has gained popularity since its premiere, thanks to its unique premise and celebrity guests. Now The Wheel is coming to NBC for a two-week run, with some very famous faces signed up for the challenge.

Newsweek has everything you need to know about the game show, including when it is on in the U.S. and how it works.

When Does The Wheel Start?

The Wheel begins Monday, December 19, with new episodes airing nightly all week at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The show continues the following week, but from December 26 to 30 the episodes will air at 8 p.m. instead.

Episodes will also be available to stream on Peacock.

What Is The Wheel?

The Wheel is the new adaptation of the hit British game show of the same name. The series was created by Michael McIntyre, who is also the host.

Each hourlong episode follows six celebrity guests who are on hand to help and support the three contestants. They are competing to be the last one standing—and a chance to win over $100,000.

The contestant at the center of The Wheel chooses a category for answering a question and then gets help from one of the celebrities. The contestant doesn’t get to choose the celebrity, which is determined by the spinning wheel.

Whoever the wheel lands on after the spin must try to help the contestant, even if the question is not in their area of expertise. If they get the question right, contestants stay in the game, but if they lose, they miss their turn and another contestant gets a shot.

If contestants leave the game they can rejoin it if the other two players get their questions wrong.

The last player left has a chance of winning the cash prize.

Who Is the Host of The Wheel?

McIntyre, 46, is a U.K.-based comedian and television host. He is a regular on U.K. panel shows such as Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Have I Got News for You and Would I Lie to You?

He was a judge on the 2011 season of Britain’s Got Talent and has hosted his own variety show, Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, since 2016. He shares two children with his wife, Kitty.
