To start, it is worth noting that early September is still more or less summer in most places. However, some islands, especially those located in the Northern Hemisphere, will be slowly transitioning to fall. Now, players who are interested to know on what lies ahead this new season, here are all the new changes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ fall update.

Cosmetic Changes
One of the biggest changes that the fall season will bring to Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a palette swap. Players should notice that weeds and trees are starting to change color in favor of a warmer autumn color scheme. There will also be changes around the island and Timmy and Tommy Nook will probably change the design of Nook’s Cranny to fit the fall theme.
Moreover, Teal Olives will begin to bloom at the start of September, and later, Maple Leaves and Mushrooms will start sprouting. Players will also be able to collect acorns and pine cones by shaking trees, and these new items can be used with new DIY recipes that would produce fall-themed objects.
New Bugs
The fall season will also see the arrival of new bugs that players can collect. As always, the variety of new insects would vary depending on the island’s location, but those in the Northern Hemisphere should be on the lookout for the regal Monarch Butterfly and Red Dragonfly, while those in the South should expect to see the return of the Orchid Mantis. Unfortunately, the variety of bugs are somehow limited in the fall season, but there are still new ones for players to catch and donate at the museum.

New Fish and Sea Creatures
Similar to bugs, new and returning species of fish and sea creatures will start appearing in the player’s island as the fall season rolls over. Players in the Northern Hemisphere must take advantage of the presence of the Salmon, given that they will only be available this September. Additionally, players will be happy with the return of the Golden trout this fall, which is a rare species of fish, that is worth 15,000 bells when sold to Timmy and Tommy Nook.

New Events
Currently, Nintendo has still yet to announce whether the fall season will bring any special event for players to participate in. However, there are scheduled events for the month of September and October, which includes the Fishing Tourney on September 3rd, and the Bug Off event for Northern Hemisphere players on September 26th. In October, players will be able to celebrate Autumn Moon on October 1st, another Fishing Tourney on October 2nd, and of course, Halloween on October 31st.
