Perhaps the biggest fix for Destiny 2 is a patch for the explosive payload perk, which was not working correctly following the launch of Forsaken. Explosive payload has become a favorite perk since the launch of Destiny 2 – it made Nameless Midnight one of the best weapons to use – but players were disappointed to see it didn’t have as much punch when added to new weapons through random perk rolls.
As it turns out, this was a bug and it has now been fixed. And as a byproduct, weapons like Sunshot that have explosive payload and were already buffed with the big 2.0 update should be much stronger in PvP and PvE.
The other important change involves a buff to Year 2 mod drops for Destiny 2 players. With the release of Forsaken, Bungie revamped the mod system to feature more beneficial options and a wider array of choices. However, seeing a mod on a weapon was a very rare occurrence, to the point that some may have only seen one or two. Now, more weapons should appear with mods and players can dismantle those weapons to claim the mod, should they choose.

Other highlights from the patch include better sorting for bounties, a fix that makes it so the new Sentinel shield super doesn’t lose energy when standing in a Well of Radiance, and the ability to reset Escalation Protocol back to wave 6 upon completion of wave 7. It’s unclear why this feature was added now, when Warmind content is less sought after, but better late than never. Now, players won’t have to resort to using an exploit to farm the Escalation Protocol boss in an effort to get the unique weapons.
Year 2 may have introduced a lot of good weapons with random perk rolls, but the Escalation Protocol shotgun is still a very strong choice. Not to mention, completing the Sleeper Simulant catalyst, which decreases charge time on the linear fusion rifle, requires collecting all of the weapons.
As we alluded to, this patch doesn’t address some of the major issues with Destiny 2 right now. Some players are still unable to purchase the Forsaken expansion as a standalone, which is locking them out of all the new content. And for those that are playing, there is a major issue with the weekly Gambit, Crucible, and Story Mission challenges that is preventing them from dropping powerful reward. Bungie is still monitoring the issue but has yet to provide a solution.
Destiny 2: Forsaken is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
