Dropping July 12, 2022, Apex Legends Mobile’s Distortion season looks to be quite an impressive patch, coming just a few months after the game’s release. Along with all of the new content coming, Distortion is also set to fix some of Apex Legends Mobile’s balancing issues and a variety of bugs, which, all things considered, aren’t nearly as severe as some of its competition. For those already playing Apex Legends Mobile, this update is sure to keep them playing for a while longer, and for those who haven’t given it a download yet, the amount of content being added with Distortion might just be the thing that pushes them over the edge.

Apex Legends Mobile Season 2’s New Legend

Though its roster isn’t quite as extensive as the mainline counterpart, Apex Legends Mobile still has an impressive 14 playable Legends to unlock and choose from. One of the big draws of Apex Legends Mobile when it first released was its exclusive Legend, Fade, and now with the Distortion Season, Apex Legends Mobile is getting another new, exclusive Legend. Called Rhapsody, this Legend was forced into poverty alongside the rest of her family when her mother was unjustly fired from her engineering job at Pythas Inc.

As Rhapsody grow up, she expressed an interest in music, and eventually honed that natural talent, using it to grow her reputation until she was eventually invited to perform for the wealthier part of town. In an unsuccessful attempt to wipe her family’s debt using a computer virus, Rhapsody was forced to compete in the Apex Games by Pythas, and now aims to make enough money in the competition to free her family from debt.

Rhapsody’s theme is music-related abilities, and as an apparent Support Legend, the first in the franchise for a long time, she uses her talent to hype up herself and her allies. Rhapsody’s Passive ability sees her visualize sounds from an extended range, while her Tactical ability, “Hype Anthem,” increases allies’ movement speed while also recharging their shields. Rhapsody’s Ultimate sees her robot companion Rowdy firing out a wall of flashing lights that block any enemy scans. Leveling up Rhapsody will also unlock a series of progression abilities, such as the ability to increase her Tactical duration if more allies are in the area of effect, or the ability to increase allies’ reload speed during her Ultimate.

Apex Legends Mobile Season 2’s New Maps

In its launch build, Apex Legends Mobile only had one battle royale map available, the classic version of World’s Edge. While this map is pretty massive, and has plenty of different biomes, fans were eager to see more included in the next update. Luckily, Respawn has listened, and Distortion is set to add two new maps.

The first of these maps is King’s Canyon, the arena that started it all. Much like World’s Edge, the mobile version of King’s Canyon resembles its original appearance, with no big world event changes like lava puddles or environmental hazards. For a limited time, Apex Legends Mobile’s King’s Canyon will be littered with VIP tickets that go towards Rhapsody’s progression.

Though King’s Canyon is the only battle royale map heading in Distortion, Respawn is adding another map for the TDM game mode. Named Pythas Block 0, this map is a neon-soaked complex of futuristic offices, with an arcade thrown in for good measure. This map links closely with Rhapsody’s backstory, being situated high above the city she grew up in.

Everything Else Coming To Apex Legends Mobile In Season 2

As should be expected from Apex Legends at this point, every new season also brings with it a slew of new events, game modes, and cosmetics. The event “Rhapsody LIVE” sees players complete challenges to earn unique, limited-time posters to celebrate the introduction of the new Legend. Also dropping with Distortion, the event “Town Takeover: Encore Galore” gives King’s Canyon a neon makeover, with a new area, Encore Galore, providing some high-tier loot, and the opportunity to find the aforementioned VIP tickets.

Although Season 2 sees Arenas being temporarily removed from Apex Legends Mobile, Respawn will be adding in a few other game modes to take its place. Gun Game is the first of these modes, giving players access to a new weapon every time they achieve a kill, until the game eventually comes to an end, when three melee kills are achieved or the player achieves the max points available. The second game mode in Apex Legends Mobile’ new season, Hack, sees a team of attackers attempting to hack an orbital cannon, while a team of defenders tries their best to repel them.

For those enjoying Apex Legends Mobile Ranked, there are a few tweaks and quality of life updates heading their way. As of Season 2, players will now be shown their rank, and point gain/loss during a match. The point ratio for kills and assists has also been adjusted slightly, along with a partial reset of the ranked ladder. Real-time ranked leaderboards will also be enabled.

Of course, with every new season of Apex Legends, there has to be a new Battle Pass, and Apex Legends Mobile Distortion is no different. Along with a whole range of purchasable Rhapsody-themed cosmetics, the Battle Pass also offers a range of neon, cyberpunk-esque outfits and skins. Three new legendary skins will be available, kitting three Legends out in futuristic gear, along with a variety of emblems, charms, and weapon skins.

Apex Legends Mobile is available now on Android and iOS devices.
