From Fortnite to World of Warcraft to Pokemon GO, gamers have no shortage of special Valentine’s-themed events to choose from this year. So for players looking to take stock of their options, here’s an easy summary of every major Valentine’s Day event being hosted in February 2020.

Apex Legends

First up, Apex Legends is hosting its Valentine’s Day Rendezvous. The event brings Duos mode back to the game, and players will earn double XP for participating; in addition, players can score a special Valentine’s Day badge (which features Nessie holding out a rose), a discounted “Through the Heart” longbow skin and “Love of the Game” banner frame, and two new gun charms of Pathfinder and Nessie. The Valentine’s Day Rendezvous runs from February 12 through 19, so players have plenty of time to jump in and earn their special prizes.

Ark: Survival Evolved

Ark: Survival Evolved is hosting its annual Valentine’s Day event, and this year, themed emotes, activities, and items are up for grabs. Breeding rates are tripled and player XP and harvesting rates are doubled; plus, players can grab a new emote, up to six chibi pets, and special candy. For those who missed last year’s Valentine’s Day event, chocolates, candies, and other items from that event will also be on offer during the current event.

Borderlands 3

Borderlands 3 is taking things in a different direction with its Broken Hearts Day event, running from February 13 to February 20. Players will be able to face off against lovestruck enemies all across the galaxy with floating hearts hanging around their heads–perfect for some target practice. Shooting those hearts down can have a bunch of cool effects, which include buffs for the whole team, the enemy’s brief transformation into an ally, or even a loot drop.

There are five different rewards that players can get from breaking hearts left and right; among them are a Legendary Maliwan SMG skin, a weapons trinket, and the biggest reward of all, a legendary Jakobs sniper rifle called “Wedding Invitation.”

Dauntless

The action RPG Dauntless aims to bring gamers together this Valentine’s Day with a Saint’s Bond event in which players will battle behemoths with a partner. To do this, there are seven new contract quests to try out, and each comes with a unique themed weapon skin as a reward; all of the contracts involve slaying 60 behemoths using whichever type of weapon that the contract specifies…so players who want to get all seven prizes had better be prepared to kill a whole lot of behemoths.

Having a partner for the contracts does make things better: every team of two that takes on a quest together will get double contract quest progress. Of course, the special skins are also available for purchase for those who’d rather just get them that way.

Destiny 2

Destiny 2 is bringing back its Crimson Days event, during which players can participate in Crimson Doubles matches to score Confectionary Hearts (the game’s Valentine’s Day currency) as a reward. In a Crimson Doubles match, players pair off and fight together through special themed matches and bounties; gathering enough Confectionary Hearts can buy new Ghost shells, new sparrows, a masterwork combat bow called The Vow, a weapon ornament, and other themed prizes.

To cash in Confectionary Hearts for fancy Valentine’s gear, players need only pay a visit to Lord Shaxx for a trade. Players will also get double XP for daily and weekly bounties during the event, and earn Bright Dust when weekly bounties are completed.

Fortnite

Fortnite has revived its Love and War Valentine’s Day event, which runs from February 5 to February 17. The event brings Search and Destroy LTM to the battle royale, in which teams of six compete over several rounds until one team triumphs by winning four rounds total.

Completing challenges during the Love and War event will also net some free cosmetic rewards, including a new emote and a pickax; there are also some exclusive cosmetics that players can buy if they so desire. The game’s shop will also be offering new themed outfits for those who really love the holiday.

Pokemon GO

Pokemon GO’s Valentine’s Day event starts right on the day of, February 14, and runs through the weekend to February 17. Naturally, pink pokemon will be cropping up way more frequently during the themed weekend, and both the Audino and Alomomola Pokemon will appear in-game for the first time (though they’re quite rare).

While out catching Pokemon, players will get double the candy for each catch, and lure modules will last for up to six hours. Plus, shiny Pokemon are coming for the event: Shiny Happiny or Shiny Chansey will also be popping up on the map. The day after Valentine’s on February 15, players can participate in a special raid which offers the chance to catch a Shiny Lickitung.

World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft’s Love is in the Air event runs from February 8 to February 21, and the in-game holiday is celebrated by both the Horde and the Alliance. Players can farm Love Tokens and trade them in for special themed items; plus, players can encounter Lovely Merchants with even more themed items, including the Big Love Rocket. (though players will need to be at least level 110 to find the rocket). Players can also pick up two seasonal battle pets and mounts during the event.

Clearly, there’s more than enough to do in the spirit of Valentine’s Day even when watching a bunch of romantic movies and waiting in line at a fancy restaurant are taken out of the equation. Of course, for those who don’t really get into Valentine’s Day at all, there are plenty more games coming in 2020 to look forward to beyond this one holiday too.

Whether playing solo or with a special partner, there’s an event out there to suit every player’s needs.
