When he isn’t dealing with the struggles of adjusting to life in Japan, he jumps into the Jump+ Dimensions and takes on a series of strategic puzzles and stealth-based challenges to overcome his enemies. All with the help of his favorite Jump+ manga characters.
8 Monster #8: Kafka Hibino
Kafka is a member of Japan’s Defense Force that protects the country against monster attacks. Despite his efforts, he ended up stuck on the Force’s cleanup crew. His life changed when a small monster merged with him and gave him the ability to turn into the titular Monster #8.
He becomes a Godzilla-esque beast willing to fight the other monsters while avoiding becoming toasted by the Defense Force. As one of the few characters to have gameplay in the trailer, Kafka can obliterate surrounding enemies with an area-of-effect attack or fire a big energy blast to cut a path through the opposing hordes.
7 HEART GEAR: Chrome
200 years after World War III, and the world is still a post-apocalyptic ruin. Still, Roue and Zett, an android known as a ‘Gear’ who acts as her uncle, live a humble life. One day, they come across another Gear called Chrome. Usually, Gears come with a pre-programmed purpose for functioning, but for some reason Chrome doesn’t have one. But through Roue and Zett, he thinks he can discover what his program is.
The trailer shows Chrome advising Meteor on the best way to progress through a section, blasting obstacles down corridors, and smashing through any enemies in the way until it hits the wall. He doesn’t seem as directly powerful as Kafka, though with the right strategy his skills could prove indispensable.
6 Slime Life: Slime
After those two big shonen-style adventure heroes, Slime is a break from the norm. He’s a toddler-esque slime creature that works alongside a black mage called Darul Alucard at their magic store. There isn’t a big, epic tale to their story. It’s just a slice-of-life story about the mishaps of running a shop in a fantasy world.

In-game, Slime can bounce through their foes with a boomerang-like attack that goes through Meteor’s foes in a loop. If that’s not enough, they can grow to a giant size and plunge onto anything in front of them like a big, blue weight.
5 Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku: Gabimaru
Set in the Edo Period, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku is about Gabimaru the Hollow, the legendary thief. Seemingly immune to all forms of death, he’s given a chance to be pardoned for his crimes if he can find the legendary elixir of immortality on an island in the Ryūkyū Kingdom.
Everyone else sent there has been killed, but if Gabimaru is as immortal as he seems, he can do it…with any luck. Chances are he won’t be so invincible in Captain Velvet Meteor, or he’d be quite broken. As he is, he still looks like a good character to have by one’s side as he has an explosive fire attack that can set everyone around him alight.
4 ‘Tis Time for “Torture”, Princess: Princess & Ex
This manga sounds weird or scary, as it follows the Princess and her talking sword Ex as they’ve been captured by the Hellhorde. As captain of the Imperial Army’s Third Legion, she’s due to receive the worst kind of punishment the Hellhorde can concoct.
Luckily, the series is more of a comedy as their best torture methods involve innocent things like bubble wrap and riding roller coasters. Freed from the Hellhorde’s confines, the Princess plays more like a standard hero in-game. Wielding Ex, she can do a spin-attack à la Link from the Legend of Zelda and clear the way to progression.
3 Ghost Reaper Girl: Kai Iod & Chloe Love
Created by the same artist behind Rosario+Vampire, this manga is about Chloe, a girl who dreams of becoming an actress. Except, at 28 years old, her opportunities are running short. However, she does have a particular appeal to the paranormal.

With the help of the mysterious Kai Iod, Chloe is inducted into the Arkham Bullet organization and fights off the occult as the Ghost Reaper Girl. She can swipe through any opponent in her and Captain Meteor’s way with a whip of her scythe. It’s a spinning attack akin to the Princess’s move, so her true potential may be revealed when the full game is released.
2 Summer Time Rendering: Ushio Kofune
Curiously, Ushio may actually be dead in her original series. The plot kicks off when Shinpei Ajiro returns from Tokyo to discover his childhood friend Ushio died trying to save a young girl from drowning. Except, at the funeral, Shinpei notices signs of foul play, alongside other strange occurrences. As he investigates, he finds himself caught in a Groundhog Day-like time loop where he’s brought back each time, he falls victim to said ‘occurrences.’
It’s up to him to protect Ushio’s sister Mio, and the rest of the town, with just Ushio’s spirit there to guide him. When she isn’t guiding Shinpei, she’s helping Captain Velvet Meteor against the ‘Shadows,’ the mysterious beings behind her death in the manga. Well, them and other enemies. Using her ability, the captain can summon a shadow to pull surrounding enemies towards it before tearing them apart.
1 SPY x FAMILY: Loid Forger
Perhaps the most popular entry on this list, SPY x FAMILY’s Loid ‘Twilight’ Forger is a spy for Westalia tasked with keeping an eye on a politician in the opposing nation of Ostania. However, the only way to get close to them is to form a family and enroll his ‘child’ into the same school as his target’s kid. Unbeknownst to him, his ‘wife’ is a professional assassin, and his ‘daughter’ is a telepath, yet all three must keep up the family act to achieve their goals.
The trailer shows him activating a trap that initially zaps foes around him, then sets off a chain reaction that attacks a giant boss. He seems like he’ll require methodical use to get the most out of him, though looks can be deceiving. Especially with a spy.
Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions is scheduled to be released for Nintendo Switch on July 28th, 2022.
